Green Tea and Weight Loss - A Weighty Connection

Drinking green tea has long been associated with weight loss - and for good reasons, too! Green tea contains antioxidants. Antioxidants do not only fight off harmful cancer cells, they also contribute to the body's natural way of shedding excess fat. The antioxidants help break down complex materials inside the body. For this reason, green tea and weight loss are two things that will always be linked to each other.


The world, or at least the world of weight conscious men and women, was stunned when CBS Television made a feature four years ago about a strange-looking plant in South Africa. The plant, called hoodia gordonii, is capable of relieving hunger pangs. It fools the brain into thinking the body does not need food just yet. This makes it easier for people to lose weight quickly but naturally. Soon after that feature, manufacturers rushed to make the plant available in more consumer-friendly form. Today, hoodia gordonii can be taken as tea or as a pill. And thanks to the hoodia gordonii, the connection between green tea and weight loss became even more established in mainstream culture.


The hoodia gordonii plant is phenomenal for two reasons. It is a natural substance from a South African plant and, hence, there is no great risk of possible debilitating side effects and late-stage backfiring. The second reason is that hoodia gordonii attacks the very core of hunger which is what makes most people gain weight. In the words of the CBS folks, the hoodia gordonii "literally takes your appetite away".


There are many reasons why we feel hungry or sated. Most of the time, we feel hungry because our bodies truly need nourishment. Other times, however, we crave food due to stress and depression. When you are depressed, you are likely to consume more food than necessary. The hoodia gordonii and its plant extract contain an active ingredient called P57 which makes you feel that you have just eaten a full meal. Yes, the green tea and weight loss connection is legitimate and it's one you - or anyone else who is trying to lose some pounds - can benefit from.
